Railway services on the Dinajpur route have been suspended since Wednesday morning due to the derailment of an express train at Parbatipur rail crossing in Parbatipur upazila.

Shahidul Islam, station master of Chirirbandar railway station, said that four bogies of Dolonchapa Express veered off the tracks around 4am after a crash with a stationary truck on the train tracks. “A relief train from Parbatipur is conducting the salvage operation,” he said.

Fortunately, no causalities were reported in the accident.
